Since their inception in August 2013, the success of Peterborough Parkruns has continued to grow. The attendance record was broken on January 25th by 30 people, with a total of 317 runners completing the course at Ferry Meadows!
Since the inaugural Parkrun last August 1,458 different runners, including participants from 115 athletics clubs, have covered a distance of 26,205km and 1,381 personal bests have been beaten! There have now been over 30 timed runs each Saturday including 2 extra on Christmas Day and New Years Day, Fancy Dress days and have also arranged ‘take over’ days where local clubs/organisations take over the running of the Parkrun for a day to raise aware of their club.
Since reaching the target of 1,500 unique runners being registered, Peterborough Parkrun is growing organically into a gathering each week with a fantastic sense of community and support for those new to runner or new to just getting active! Well done to all those involved – great work!
The Parkrun will continue every Saturday at 9am in Ferry Meadows Country Park – it’s completely FREE to take part in but you must register online before taking part. To join in, register to run or volunteer head to http://www.parkrun.org.uk/peterborough/ or if you just want to volunteer, contact the team via firstname.lastname@example.org to find out about the different roles available.
